(This is a random picture, not my book cover. My book is for girls 10-14)
This coming summer I have a book coming out with Tyndale. I'm not sure of the exact title but it's something like One Year Devotions for Girls Starring Women of the Bible. I thought I'd share what I learned from some of the women on this blog over the next few weeks.
Eve is the first woman we read about in the Bible. We're introduced to her in Genesis chapter 2.
So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man. “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”
Most of time when we think about Eve, we think about her as the one who ate the forbidden fruit and got kicked out of the garden. But she was so much more than that. She was the first woman created. She was unique and individual. She was created in the image of God with a special purpose in mind. That purpose was to begin the human race.
God also created you in a unique and special way. Don't believe it? Check out these truths from the Bible:
God created you in his own image. Genesis 1:26-27
God created in you in a unique and amazing way. Psalm 139:14
God has a special plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11
God calls you by name. Isaiah 43:1
You are a friend of Jesus. John 15:15-16
You are bought with a price. 1 Corinthians 6:20
You are a new creation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17
You have victory in Christ. Romans 8:37
You can do all things through Christ. Philippians 4:13
Take time to read each verse for yourself.
More about Eve later.
