Sarah: Claiming God's Promises
Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Genesis 15:5
God promised Abraham and Sarah that their family would be like the stars in the sky—it would be so big they wouldn’t be able to count everyone. The problem with that? They didn't have any children, So there was no chance of grandchildren, let alone future generations.
Did you ever wonder what was going through Sarah's mind? God gave her a promise, but no babies had arrived. Years had gone by, and now she was long past the age of having children. Did she think God had forgotten? Or did she just wonder when and how God would send them a baby?
Sarah knew that God had made a promise to Abraham and to herself. But she didn’t know how he would keep it. She knew this promise was from the same God who created the world, the moon, sun, and stars, all the animals and people. Certainly the God who did all this could cause Sarah to have a child, even in her old age. But still it seemed impossible.
Do things in your life seem confusing right now? Are there situations that make you wonder if God is really listening and if he really cares? The God of Sarah and Abraham is the same God who is watching over you. He has given you his message in his Word, the Bible. He has promises for you in the Bible that are as true today as they were when the Bible was first written. You just need to claim them for your own and believe them as though they were written for you.
Thinking it through

I love God's promise of protection from harm and danger. Psalms 91:4-6, HCSB. He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield. You will not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day, the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence that ravages at noon.
